Dr. Alexander Ko

Dr. Alex Ko was born and raised in northern California. He graduated with honors from the University of California, Irvine, with degrees in Computer Engineering and Biological Sciences. He then followed his father’s footsteps and went on to pursue his Doctorate of Dentistry at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (DMD). While in dental school he was awarded Excellence in Undergraduate Periodontics from the Northeastern Society of Periodontists. Therefore, he builded his interests in periodontology since then.  After graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine, he moved back and took over his father’s general practice in Sunnyvale, California.

After practicing three years as a general dentist, he decided to follow his dream and passion and moved to Washington where he completed his periodontology training at the University of Washington School of Dentistry and also earned his MSD degree. He is a current member of the Academy of Periodontology and has completed his formal American board certification. When not working in private practice, he enjoys teaching dental students and serves as an affiliate faculty at University of Washington.

Dr. Alex Ko believes that a health gum brings a strong foundation of whole body health, and he will look at patients’ individual needs and customize patients’ treatments accordingly.

Dr. Alex’s life outside of dentistry includes participating with his lovely wife, Dr. Michelle, and his fur-baby in all the great outdoor activities the Pacific Northwest has to offer such as running, kayaking, paddle boarding, and hiking in the numerous trails nearby. When time allows, he loves to travel and experience different cultures and cuisines. He also loves to cook all kind of delicious food and treat his family in special occasions. His signature dishes are Taiwanese beef noodle soup and pumpkin cheese cake.
